Katalyst Technologies has partnered with the Indian Red Cross Society assisting and enabling them to provide food, healthcare and sanitation facilities in the flood-stricken regions of Kerala and Karnataka.

The last spell of incessant rains between 22nd to 27th July, caused unprecedented flooding and immeasurable devastation in the state of Kerala and other surrounding states. This has left many families in relief camps, washing away their homes, assets, and livelihoods. Last week reports over two hundred people dead, and three hundred thousand left devastated and helpless by the floods unleashed by these monsoon rains.

A circular issued by the Supreme Court recently said, “Never before has the State witnessed a calamity of such a huge magnitude”.

Similarly, Katalyst’s CEO, Rahul Shah said in an encouraging memo to the employees of Katalyst, “it is important that we support and help Kerala in this hour of need in any small way we can”. He further added that the company would match the contributions of its employees in their effort to support those affected, through their contribution to the Indian Red Cross Society.

Last year, Katalyst collaborated with the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) to provide relief to those affected by floods in Mumbai, that proved immensely helpful. Katalyst is proud to be associated with the Indian Red Cross Society as it’s National Headquarters and its branches in the flooded states have been responding to situations like these through its hundreds of trained volunteers from the very first hours of the floods. Katalyst’s CEO – India Operations, Vivek Nagarkatti adds, “Kerala is reeling under the aftermath of devastating floods, the worst in over a century, we pray that Katalyst’s contributions bring families some relief and help them start afresh.”

Katalyst’s employees around the globe contributed generously and donated seven lakhs in a matter of days and the company went over and above to donate a total of fifteen lakhs (i.e $21500) to help the flood-affected regions.

With the help of Katalyst’s donations and other contributions, the IRCS has been extending rescue and first aid services as well as clean water, shelter and hygiene material. Indian Red Cross volunteers are working tirelessly and extending support from reserves especially built for such emergencies.

Katalyst’s supports the IRCS’s appeal for their support to reach 25,000 affected families across India.

Here’s to the spirit and generosity of all Katalyst employees and the volunteers of the IRCS.
